We think of Taiwan famous for Formosa oolong tea. However, few people know the fact that Taiwan is one of the countries producing premium black teas long in the tea history since early nineteen's.

In 1936 during Japan colonial period, Formosa black tea research center was established in Yu Chi Township, center of Taiwan, and has successfully grown high quality of Assam black tea for export-ing. Formosa black tea was exported as Japanese royal tribute and ranked as some of the best black teas among foreign connoisseurs. Since then, Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station(TRES) has devoted great efforts in develop-ing new varieties of tea trees for exquisite black tea. Our black tea collections include the best of Formosa black teas from local tea making masters.

It takes 40 or so years to research the right varieties and develop a new cultivar, TTES No. 18 (Ruby Black Tea), a mix breed of indigenous Taiwan wild tea variety and Burma tea tree. Its incredible hint of mint smell and cinnamon note will bring you a wonderful black tea tasting experience. We hope you enjoy Formosa black teas Mantra Tea offers you! Click Here to buy.
